On Wednesday, Azul Brazilian Airlines received its eighteenth Airbus A320neo, which features a special pink livery. The plane arrived at Confins International Airport, in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
The crew of the delivery flight included seven women who won their fights against breast cancer. In homage to them, the new plane was named “Vitoriosas de Azul”.
“More than a recognition, we wanted to pay tribute to our victorious by baptizing this plane of victorious blue and also taking them to France to know the Airbus factory and make this special flight,” said Claudia Fernandes, Director of Marketing and Communication at Azul.
The aircraft took off from the Airbus factory in Toulouse in France and made a stopover in the asparagus in Cape verde before arriving at Confins/Belo Horizonte. Azul Brazil has participated in the Pink October campaign since 2011. Pink October is a program that aims to raise awareness about the diagnosis and prevention of breast cancer.
Along with A320neo, Azul Brazilian Airlines has a pink Embraer 195 which it received in December 2010. With the pink painting, the aircraft was baptized as Azul e Rosa (Blue and pink).
The new A320neo will be checked and registered before operating regular flights.
