Routesonline has reported that China Eastern Airlines has plans to expand to London Gatwick. The route will launch on December 7, 2018. China Eastern will operate the route three times per week with an Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

The return schedule for this route is a little complicated. Flights from Shanghai to Gatwick will always depart Shanghai at 01:45 and arrive in Gatwick at 6:30. One of the return flights will leave London Gatwick at 11:50; another at 12:00; and a third at 12:10. All three return flights will land at Shanghai at 07:30 (+1 day).

In a separate announcement, China Eastern has revealed that it will operate its Shanghai to London Heathrow route with a Boeing 777-300ER between October 28, 2018 and March 30, 2019. The airline originally scheduled that route with an A330-200.
