Ethiopian Airlines has taken delivery of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, the first of four to be added to its fleet.

Ethiopian Airlines was the first African airline to introduce the Dreamliner in 2012. The Boeing 787-9 being delivered adds to the nineteen Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners currently in its fleet, which make up the backbone of the airline’s long-haul operations.

On its delivery flight, the 787-9 conducted a humanitarian delivery flight, transporting goods donated by U.S. medical organizations to Black Lion Hospital and St. Paul Hospital in Ethiopia; Ethiopian Airlines teamed up with Seattle Alliance Outreach, a non-profit.
