Routes Announced This Week (March 27th – April 2nd)
Frontier: Philadelphia – San Juan and Orlando – San Juan
As part of an aggressive expansion plan from Frontier Airlines’ to compete on highly-competitive vacation routes, the airline has announced plans to operate flights between Philadelphia and Orlando to San Juan, Puerto Rico, starting on June 11th, 2017. Frontier will use their new 230-seat Airbus A321 aircraft on the routes.

Air India: Delhi to Washington – Dulles
Air India has continued it’s slow North American expansion with the addition of a 3x weekly Delhi-Washington/Dulles route operating on Tuesday’s, Thursday’s, and Saturday’s from July 7th, 2017. The flight will operate year-round utilizing the Boeing 777-200LR aircraft. This flight is scheduled to take 16 hours both ways.

WOW Air: Reykjavik to Chicago
Iceland-based low-cost carrier WOW Air has recently announced new flights to Chicago, Illinois, another destination the airline is adding where they are directly competing with national carrier Icelandair. Flights begin July 13th, 2017 using the airlines’ new Airbus A321 aircraft. This flight is quite long for the narrowbody, spending 6 hours and 40 minutes airborne westbound and 6 hours and 20 minutes airborne eastbound.

Beijing Capital Airlines: Qingdao to Sydney
Beijing Capital Airlines has received Australian and CAAC government approval to fly between Qingdao and Sydney, Australia 2x weekly, further connecting Australia to secondary cities in China. The inaugural flight is scheduled for August 9th, 2017 using the Airbus A330-200 aircraft. This flight is scheduled to take 9 hours and 55 minutes southbound and 11 hours 35 minutes northbound.

Ethiopian Airlines: Lome to Johannesburg
Ethiopian Airlines recently announced the connection between Lome, Togo and Johannesburg, South Africa. The purpose for this launch is to fill the void of the regional connection lost when Arik Air dropped Johannesburg-Lagos in February 2017. The route will be operated 4x weekly by a Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The flight is scheduled to spend 6 hours 15 minutes airborne both ways.
