On June 14, 2018, Sichuan Airlines (3u) submitted an application to the U.S. Department of Transportation to fly from their home base of Chengdu (CTU) to Boston twice a week starting December 17, 2018. They plan to fly this route with their brand new Airbus A350-900XWB. This route is likely to be the first international route for Sichuan Airlines’ A350-900XWB.

According to the application above the flights are planned to depart and arrive at night. In addition, the airline plans to carry about 55,608 passengers in the first year of operation for this route.

Sichuan Airlines currently operates an all Airbus fleet. Their fleet includes Airbus A319, A320, A321, A330 aircraft at the moment and they set to receive their first Airbus A350-900 soon. Their first A359, registered B-301D,  will be painted in a “Panda” special livery. The aircraft is configured in 28 Business Class seats and 303 Economy seats. Sichuan has started some international routes, with their A330 as the backbone of their international routes to Sydney and St. Petersburg.
