Ethiopian Airlines has revealed that it will begin seasonal flights between Addis Ababa and Lisbon on October 28. The service will be operated four times per week with flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Service will run until March 29, 2019.

This new service has already been approved for both passenger and cargo transport. Slots at Lisbon International Airport have also been approved.

Ethiopian Airlines will operate Boeing 787 Dreamliners on the route. The planes can carry up to 270 people in a two-class configuration.

Ethiopian’s Lisbon service is part of the carrier’s service to Madrid, Spain. According to NewsAvia, aircraft will land in Lisbon after departing from Madrid before continuing on to Addis Ababa.

Service connecting Lisbon to Addis Ababa gives Portuguese passengers greater access to destinations across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia with stopovers in Ethiopia.

Ethiopian Airlines was founded on December 21, 1945. The carrier launched a codeshare with TAP Air Portugal in 2015.
