Emirates and flydubai announced last week that Emirates will expand its network to 29 flydubai destinations across three continents after the commencement of the partnership between the two Middle Eastern airlines. The new routes will offer greater frequency and easier access to more destinations around the world with the added advantage of connecting baggage to the final destination.

“This is an exciting first step in unlocking the benefits of the partnership for passengers who will have the opportunity to enjoy the unique advantages each airline offers as well as greater choice and flexibility when connecting via Dubai,” said HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Group and Chairman of flydubai. “This is just the start and as we expand the partner network in the coming months we will open up more opportunities for our passengers to explore the world.”

Connecting in Dubai’s aviation hub will offer a smooth transfer experience between the two airlines. The partnership will allow passengers to benefit from a reduced Minimum Connection Time of 120 minutes between Emirate’ hub in Terminal 3 and flydubai’s base in Terminal 2.

“This deal makes it easier for customers to book and transfer between the two carriers’ flights and opens up many more journey itineraries,” said john Strickland, aviation analyst at JLS Consulting.

Passengers can book codeshare flights as of October 3 for travel dates starting on October 29.

Through the codeshare, Emirates and flydubai strive to deliver a product experience that reflects the unique brand characteristics of each airline.
