Emirates Cuts US Airbus A380 Flights By A Staggering 51% Amid Middle East Conflict

March 15, 2026 — Dubai, UAE Emirates has reduced its weekly Airbus A380 flights from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to the United States by 51%, dropping from 49 to 24 departures in the second half of March 2026, according to scheduling data reported by Simple Flying.

The cuts stem from ongoing restrictions at DXB due to the conflict in the Middle East, which has limited operations despite a partial reopening of regional airspace. Emirates stated:

“Following the partial re-opening of regional airspace, Emirates is operating a reduced flight schedule. Customers transiting in Dubai will only be accepted for travel if their connecting flight is operating.”

Full operations are scheduled to resume on March 29, 2026.

Retained A380 Routes

New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) will retain the majority of A380 services, with 17 weekly flights: 10 nonstop and seven via Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP). San Francisco International Airport (SFO) will continue daily A380 service, accounting for the remaining seven flights.

Suspended A380 Services

A380 operations have been completely suspended to Houston Intercontinental (IAH), Los Angeles International (LAX), and Washington Dulles International (IAD), routes that normally see daily service with the aircraft.

Alternative Aircraft on Other Routes

Other US destinations will use Boeing 777 aircraft instead of the A380. These include Newark Liberty International (EWR) daily via Athens (ATH) with the Boeing 777-300ER, Boston Logan International (BOS) three times weekly with the 777, and services to Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW), and Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA) with varying frequencies using 777 family jets.
